The new commissioner of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) says he is focusing on establishing more healing lodges to help Indigenous inmates reconnect with their communities. Talal Dakalbab was named to the position in March, but says he’s well-versed in issues facing Indigenous Peoples behind bars. “I’ve been working on Indigenous issues and overrepresentation for much longer than just the last couple of months here,” he told APTN News InFocus.
