In-depth characterisation of the tumour microenvironment reveals HHV-8-dependent immune regulation in HIV-associated and classic Kaposi sarcoma
Abstract Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS) is the most common malignancy occurring in people living with HIV (PLWH). The clinical course of KS in PLWH established on combined anti-retroviral therapy (cART) resembles that of classic KS. To compare the clinical and biological characteristics of HIV-associated KS in patients with well-controlled viral infection (N = 21) and non-HIV-associated KS (N = 19).
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis in HIV-related lymphomas: a multicentre retrospective cohort study
HLH in adults is characterized by fever, cytopenias, hepatosplenomegaly and hyperferritinemia, and carries a high mortality rate [1, 2]. It can occur secondary to infections, autoimmune diseases or malignancies, most commonly of haematological origin [1, 2]. Early identification of the underlying trigger is critical, but the sepsis-like presentation often delays diagnosis and worsens outcomes [3].
Selumetinib in Combination with Anti Retroviral Therapy in HIV-associated Kaposi sarcoma (SCART): an open-label, multicentre, phase I/II trial - BMC Cancer
Between 15-Jun-2012 and 25-Sep-2018, 19 patients were recruited, 13 into phase I and 6 into phase II, of whom three in phase I did not start treatment and were not included in the final analysis (Fig. 1). Patient baseline characteristics of those who started treatment are described in Table 1. Median age was 44 years (range 33, 63) with 15/16 (94%) male, 13/16 (81%) performance status 0, and a median time from HIV diagnosis of 5.1 years (range 0.9, 25.4).
Clinical Management of Human Herpesvirus-8 related illnesses in solid organ transplant recipients
Keywords solid organ transplant graft-related infection primary infection post-transplant Kaposi Sarcoma KSHV HHV8 Introduction Infection is a leading cause of increased morbidity and mortality in solid organ transplant recipients (SOTRs), and the long-term risk of malignancy is also significantly higher in this population.
Lung cancer in people living with HIV
Between 2001 and 2016, the risk of lung cancer decreased for people living with HIV aged 20–69 years, but remained substantially elevated compared with the general population, probably due to a combination of smoking and immunosuppression. For people living with HIV aged 60 years and older, the risk of lung cancer exceeds that of two of the most common AIDS-defining cancers, highlighting the importance of lung cancer among the growing older population of people living with HIV.

Highlights • Patients with cancer may experience “long-COVID”. • We evaluated long-term sequelae from COVID-19 across OnCovid registry participants. • A significant proportion of patients may experience long-term COVID-19 sequelae. Abstract Introduction A significant proportion of patients with cancer who recover from COVID-19 may experience COVID-19 sequelae in the early post-infection phase, which negatively affect the continuity of care and oncological outcome.
Prevalence and impact of COVID-19 sequelae on treatment and survival of patients with cancer who recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection: evidence from the OnCovid retrospective, multicentre registry study
Summary Background The medium-term and long-term impact of COVID-19 in patients with cancer is not yet known. In this study, we aimed to describe the prevalence of COVID-19 sequelae and their impact on the survival of patients with cancer. We also aimed to describe patterns of resumption and modifications of systemic anti-cancer therapy following recovery from SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Outcomes of men with HIV and germ cell cancer: Results from an international collaborative study
Abstract Background Previous studies have shown that men with HIV and germ cell cancer (HIV-GCC) have inferior overall survival (OS) in comparison with their HIV-negative counterparts. However, little information is available on treatments and outcomes of HIV-GCC in the era of combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). Methods This study examined men living with HIV who were 18 years old or older and had a diagnosis of histologically proven germ cell cancer (GCC).

Cloud Security Data Security Security Bloggers Network This recent story on TechRadar illustrates precisely the problem of data security and risk governance faced by enterprises today in the vastness of their accelerated digital transformation. Clearly, the data in question is regulated under a variety of rulings – GDPR being the most obvious, but as this is insurance related, this falls under FSA, ICO in the UK, and if this is US related data, perhaps GLBA.

Data Security Security Bloggers Network Threats & Breaches SUMMARY: CISO’s and C-level leaders around the world need to look at the exposure risk of sensitive data in their organizations when attackers can infiltrate and control its IT network like in the recent Solarwinds breach scenario. While dramatic and concerning, the compromise also creates the opportunity to engage in a new strategy for data security resilience.

Knowing what risks impact your business can give security professionals a deeper grasp of what data protection tools are required to effectively protect data stored within the perimeter. However, a major obstacle to mitigating risk and protecting sensitive data is that in many organizations, no one can say precisely where all of their data is, how much there is, and in exactly what ways it’s being used.

How to Pass the Test of “Reasonable Security” When It Comes to CCPA Compliance > TheCustomer
Today, we see a third CCPA class action in short order, which points to very specific claims of security failure against the CCPA compliance regulation. This time, it affects 73 million records – that’s pretty significant.
Navigating Modern Container and Cloud Architectures with Stateless Data Security Models
Click to learn more about author Mark Bower. There are very obvious indications that the shift to contemporary cloud application strategies, and, in particular, modern container workload models, is accelerating even more during the current pandemic. This is driven by the cost benefits of re-platforming core IT to enable accelerated change to market conditions and deal with competitive threats imposed by new market entrants.

How to Stop Insider Breaches From Becoming the Norm
Email This Print Comment The average data breach now costs a company $3.86 million, up 6.4% since 2017. Unfortunately, data breaches are now so common we rarely go a day without hearing about the latest one. When these breaches are the result of employee actions, for example, accidental data leakage or clicking on a malicious link in an email, it can often be difficult for organizations to know how they can prevent this scenario from playing out again in future.
How the ‘Cookie Monster cat’ exposed the accidental insider threat
INDUSTRY INSIGHT How the ‘Cookie Monster cat’ exposed the accidental insider threat By Mark Bower Dec 05, 2018 A recent email mistake at the U.S. embassy in Australia exposed the growing threat of the "accidental insider." As part of a training session, an embassy employee accidentally sent a party invitation to a "cat pajama party." Featuring a picture of a cat in a Cookie Monster costume, the email went to an undisclosed number of people.
Privacy laws do not understand human error
In a world of increasingly punitive regulations like GDPR, the combination of unstructured data and human error represents one of the greatest risks an organization faces. Understanding the differences between unstructured and structured data – and the different approaches needed to secure it – is critical to achieve compliance with the many data privacy regulations that businesses in the U.S. now face.
Know, like, trust - using social media successfully
When my business partner and I quit our jobs to start our own business, one of the unexpected challenges we faced was the lack of a network with which to share ideas. We turned to social media, and in particular Twitter to fill that gap. We have successfully used Twitter to grow our network of peers, suppliers and customers and discovered that just like real-world networking, the “know, like, trust” process still applies. It’s just that social media accelerates that process.

HIV-related lymphoma
Since the introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy, the natural history of HIV infection has changed dramatically, and with it the epidemiology of HIV-related lymphoma. HIV-related lymphomas have increased as a percentage of first AIDS-defining illness. The most prevalent of the HIV-related lymphomas is diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, followed by Burkitt’s lymphoma.
