Servo terminology makes a difference
“Servo bandwidth” is a very common term used in the motion control industry. The value is often used as a specification to characterize a servo loop’s performance. But not all servo loops are asked to do the same job, causing confusion as to which servo-loop metric accurately defines the requirement. First, the components of a servo loop need to be defined to set the stage for a discussion of bandwidth vs. loop gain.
