Operation Metro Surge did $700 million in economic damage to Minneapolis, according to new report

"The hole that we're coming out of is deep, $700 million is deep," said Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey after a new report finds Operation Metro Surge caused massive economic damage in Minneapolis. That figure is up significantly from the estimated $203 million in damages that the city announced back in February. Colonial Market owner Daniel Hernandez felt Operation Metro Surge's impact almost immediately. "January we were only running the store with 10 people," Hernandez said.

Suspect arrested following hours-long Minneapolis standoff

A suspect who fired multiple rounds at law enforcement during a nearly eight-hour standoff in south Minneapolis was safely taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon. Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt said the incident began around 11:30 a.m. when deputies attempting to serve a Department of Corrections arrest warrant for weapons for 31-year-old Tyler O'Brien at an apartment unit on West 28th Street and Nicollet Avenue heard gunfire.
