Matt Blumenthal (opinion): We Trump-proofed Connecticut's elections. Other states should too Original
wildpixel/Getty Images President Donald Trump has repeatedly said he wants Republicans to “take over the voting” and “nationalize” our elections. He’s adopted blatantly unconstitutional executive orders to interfere with mail-in voting and purge state voter rolls. His allies have urged him to send ICE or troops to the polls to interfere with voters. Asked simply to rule out such blatantly illegal action, Trump and administration officials have repeatedly refused to do so.
Defending Rep-Am's right to be wrong
The Waterbury Republican-American's recent editorial, "Political CT lawyers undermine legal system," criticized me, legislative colleagues, and fellow lawyers for sounding the alarm on the Trump administration's assaults on the Constitution and the rule of law. The Trump administration just got smacked down 9-0 by the Supreme Court for kidnapping someone they admit was here legally, sending him to a notorious Salvadoran prison, and refusing to bring him back.
Opinion: A problem with truth on reproductive rights Original
They’re at it again: Another Greenwich Republican has attempted to obscure her dangerous positions on reproductive rights by misrepresenting the Reproductive Freedom Defense Act (RFDA). The RFDA is our state’s nation-leading law in defense of abortion rights and reproductive health care, which has now been adopted by 16 states and the District of Columbia.

Matt Blumenthal: Getting Connecticut back on track
Connecticut has two crucial economic advantages: its geography and its people. Our location is ideal, with proximity to New York City and Boston. And Connecticut boasts one of the best-trained and most well-educated workforces in the country. These features should make Connecticut a very popular destination for people and businesses.
Op-ed: Opponent’s math doesn’t add up
I was initially heartened to read Mr. Graziosi’s praise of our public education system, and his appeal to better fund it (op-ed: “State must improve funding for schools,” Sept. 12). But reading further revealed his words are hollow. After all, his policies utterly fail an essential subject: Math. Simply put, the proposals he advocates would devastate our public schools. They would also financially harm the very people — our teachers — he purports to admire.

Op-ed: Candidate Matt Blumenthal stands up for gun safety
Gun violence is a defining moral and public health crisis of our time. All candidates for public office must make clear where they stand on the issue. I support common-sense laws such as universal comprehensive background checks, red-flag laws, funding research on gun violence, and bans on assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, bump stocks, and ghost guns. I also support increased access and funding to mental health care.
