What was your first job as a journalist?
Covering the Chicago White Sox for Outside Pitch Sports Network.
How is social media changing news?
Social media is the new medium to break news of all kinds. However, sources require increased scrutiny and tripwires are easily triggered.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Twitter, Facebook, Microsoft Word, Wordpress and various baseball statistics websites.

Why did you become a journalist?
Writing must be honest and so must journalism. I enjoy finding stories worth telling and telling well.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No. As an athlete, I was the subject of stories, but now I'm on the other side of the microphone.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
As someone still learning it is hard for me to dole out advice, but don't be afraid to ask for help.
When's the best time to pitch you?
As a freelance writer, I'm available almost all the time.
What's your favorite drink?
An IPA at a dive bar that plays the color commentary of one or more sporting events instead of overplayed music.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Checking twitter on my phone.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Wine Spectator, The Athletic, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Bloomberg, Associated Press, The Atlantic and novels by Earnest Hemingway
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
Not so much the misperception of the White Sox as the idea that sports writing can't be poetic is what bothers me the most.
