When Ian Davis, owner of Blip Coffee Roasters, opened his business in 2014, he simply set out to roast coffee and sell his products to restaurants, offices and other businesses. He never intended to become the central gathering spot for the motorcycle community of Kansas City. Blip Coffee Roasters is a perfect fit for its location in the West Bottoms, which was a stockyards area of the Old West that later grew into a late 19th and early 20th century industrial neighborhood.

Kansas earns #15 seed, to host NCAA Baseball Regional

For the first time, the road to Omaha will begin in Lawrence, Kansas. After winning both the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles, the Kansas Jayhawks were picked as one of 16 host schools for this year's NCAA Baseball Tournament, something the school has never done before. Kansas was announced Monday morning as the number 15 national seed, and will begin the national tourney against Northeastern. First pitch from Hoglund Ballpark is set for noon Friday, May 29.

Historian Howard Zinn once compared the historian’s perspective to that of the mapmaker. We have the human tendency to see the world from our point of view, regardless of our best intentions and feigned attempts at objectivity. Such is the same for newspapers, both historically and in their present form. Newspapers carry with them a certain perspective — a leaning of sorts that is inherent and molded in the perspective of owners, editorial boards and journalists themselves.
