At first glance, Step Forward in Cleveland appears to be just another preschool, but amid the noise on the playground is the Heat Start program, which serves some of the neediest children and families in Cuyahoga County.

Union leaders, federal workers protest Trump administration layoffs in Cleveland

CLEVELAND — Dozens of federal workers, union leaders and supporters rallied outside the federal building in downtown Cleveland Thursday, pushing back against the Trump administration’s efforts to reduce the size of the federal government. Union leaders who organized the event represent thousands of federal workers including air traffic controllers, postal workers, and Veteran Affairs care staff. In recent days, thousands have been fired across federal agencies around the country.
