Climate change SEO survey: Making the web more sustainable Original
In November, I conducted a survey aimed at SEO professionals, delving into their perspectives on climate change. This article unpacks the survey results, highlighting key findings and offering practical advice for SEO professionals looking to impact the environment positively. But first, let’s explore why the link between SEO and climate change matters.
How to optimize your content for social: Facebook, Slack and X
We all know what’s involved in crafting the perfect, most SEO-conscious article for the web. But how many of us really think about those crucial next steps – sharing them in the right communities to help ensure they reach our target audiences? This part of the post-publishing process is vital to ensure that you’re amplifying the content you create and should help it reach a wider chunk of your audience.
Is your brand guilty of greenwashing in your Google Ads? Original
Greenwashing happens when a company tries to trick customers into thinking they’re environmentally friendly to attract their business. It can happen on purpose or by mistake due to poor planning and lack of awareness. Many big brands, from Nestle to Starbucks, have been caught greenwashing. It’s a prevalent problem within some industries, such as fast fashion.
How Ecommerce Stores Become Sustainable
We’re all feeling the impact of climate change. Consumers are responding. A 2023 report for the U.S. food and grocery industry by Glow, a research firm, stated that nine out of 10 consumers believe businesses should act in a socially and environmentally responsible way. Sustainability for a business typically consists of three components: Environmental refers to reducing your business’s carbon emissions. Social includes your company’s example and interactions within the community.
19 Experts share their favourite examples of Link Magnets used by Brands
However you want to call them, whether it’s a link magnet, a link asset or link bait – there are many examples of brands investing lots of time and effort in creating something that will in turn pick up links. The idea is fairly simple – building links in this way can be a great way not only to get your brand known, but also to pickup coverage that will help your domain grow in organic authority, later helping you to rank for more terms (that’s the theory, anyway).
24 Experts share how they are using ChatGPT to help with SEO efforts
Just about every man and his dog has been talking about ChatGPT recently, and about just how brilliant it is. Not one to be left out, I’ve been playing around with it myself to see what all the fuss was about. I can see so many interesting ways it can be used to assist an SEO consultant in their day-to-day work – and so decided to ask around the SEO and digital marketing community to see how they’ve all been making use of it.
How to stop Wordfence creating URLs
For a few websites I have added in Google Search Console, some of them my own side projects, some of them client sites, I've noticed a recent uptick in "Crawled - currently not indexed" errors in Search Console. Looking at this issue in a bit more depth there was one repeat offender - apparently caused by the Wordfence security plugin for WordPress.
Googlebot currently unable to crawl/access many Siteground hosted websites
Seeing an issue at the moment that appears specific to sites that are hosted using Siteground. Would be happy to be proven wrong, if it’s not specific to them, but from all my tests it looks that way. The issue I’m seeing is that Googlebot is unable to fetch the current robots.txt file of the site, and so are either not crawling the site, or are falling back to a previous version of the robots.txt file.

Adding A Favicon To Your Hotel Website For Better Branding Within Google’s Search Results | By Matt Tutt – Hospitality Net
Recently Google announced a new look for Google Search, with the main news for search marketers being that the Ad Label format has been tweaked further so ads blend more naturally into the search results, and that favicons are now visible next to the search results. Whilst the former change is probably to be expected and may continue to blend even more into the natural search results to encourage greater ad clicks, the favicon change probably took a few marketers by surprise.

Most travel booking engines are likely to be well aware of Google's push into providing an all-encompassing booking experience within its search engine, but it still remains to be seen how many hotels have signed up to Google's own booking engine - despite its low entry costs.

These changes included a new pay-as-you-go pricing structure that requires websites and applications that exceed a certain number of “calls” within the Google Maps API to use paid plans. Historically, the Maps API has been a free-to-use platform, enabling many businesses around the world to embed a Google Map within their website.
