In a 6-3 vote, the Justices reinforced the 14th Amendment to grant citizenship to anyone born on American soil. President Donald Trump tried to end the right through an executive order and argued children should not be given citizenship if their parents are in the country illegally. Secretary of State Bob Evnen said a group called the Nebraska Working People Party filed paperwork a few days ago. The affidavit was filed by a woman named Robin Richards. She ran as a write-in Democrat for the Nebraska State Legislature but lost in the primary election. Now, she is spearheading an effort to create a new political party just five months ahead of the midterms.

Witnesses describe “explosion” as north Lincoln hotel is engulfed in flames

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A hotel in north Lincoln went up in flames on Monday night, prompting a massive response from firefighters. Crews were called to the Fairfield Inn & Suites at 27th and Superior streets just before 7 p.m. Smoke could be seen from miles away. By the time firefighters got to the scene, the top of the hotel was engulfed. One man told Channel 8 he saw flames climbing up the west side of the building.
