Junk was tagged in the second inning, surrendering all six of his runs in the frame, including a grand slam to Jeremy Pena. Monday marked Junk's second start since returning from a right shin injury, with his previous outing July 9 against Seattle going considerably better after he allowed one earned run across five innings to earn the win.
Cubs' Trent Thornton: Departs with foot injury
Thornton was removed from Monday's game against the Tigers after being struck on the left foot by a comebacker, Mike McGraw of the Chicago Daily Herald reports. Thornton was deployed in the top of the 10th inning, but the first batter of the frame drilled the right-hander with a comebacker, forcing Thornton to exit the matchup. The 32-year-old was able to put some weight on his foot as he walked off the field and will likely be sent for further evaluation.
Dodgers' Emmet Sheehan: Lit up for six runs in loss
Sheehan (4-7) took the loss Monday against the Phillies, allowing six runs on eight hits and one walk in 5.1 innings. He struck out six. Sheehan wasn't able to limit the damage when he got into trouble Monday, getting torched for four runs in the second inning and then two more in the sixth frame. The right-hander is without a quality start since June 1 in Arizona, and he matched season worsts in both hits and runs allowed Monday.
Astros' Ronel Blanco: Strikes out eight in season debut
Blanco did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing four runs on two hits and three walks across 4.2 innings in an 8-5 win over the Marlins. He struck out eight. Blanco's season debut was a mixed bag, as he generated 18 whiffs and recorded eight strikeouts while allowing just two hits, but both were two-run home runs. The 32-year-old departed after throwing 86 pitches (58 strikes).
Athletics' Colby Thomas: Exits after HBP
Thomas left Monday's game against Arizona after suffering an apparent left wrist injury, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Thomas was hit by a pitch on his left wrist during his at-bat in the top of the third inning, and he was replaced in the bottom of fourth. He's presumably being sent for further evaluation and can be considered day-to-day until more information becomes available.
Athletics' Joshua Kuroda-Grauer: Departs early Monday
Kuroda-Grauer left Monday's game against the Diamondbacks due to an undisclosed injury, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Kuroda-Grauer appeared to be in some discomfort after fouling a ball off himself earlier in the game, and he was later removed in the bottom of the sixth inning. He can be considered day-to-day until the team has an update on the nature and severity of his injury.
Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez: Nabs 12th win Monday
Sanchez (12-4) earned the win Monday against the Dodgers, allowing three runs on seven hits and no walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out seven. Sanchez kept a vaunted Dodgers lineup in check for one run over his first five innings, but Los Angeles chased him from the outing with a two-run sixth frame.
Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Escapes with 22nd save

Chapman secured the save Monday against Baltimore, allowing one hit and one walk in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out two. The Orioles made Chapman work, getting the possible tying and go-ahead runs aboard, but Tyler O'Neill hit a tough-luck lineout to Tsung-Che Cheng to end the game.
Orioles' Shane Baz: Strikes out six in quality start
Baz took a no-decision Monday against Boston, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out six. A pair of throwing errors, one by Gunnar Henderson in the third inning and another by Baz himself in the sixth frame, kept two earned runs off Baz's ledger, so Monday goes down as a quality start for the hurler. The right-hander has logged eight quality starts in his last 12 outings (73.1 innings), during which he has a 3.31 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 67:23 K:BB.
