KFVS-TV is the CBS-affiliated television station for Southeastern Missouri, the Purchase area of Western Kentucky, and Southern Illinois. Licensed to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, it broadcasts a high definition digital signal on VHF channel 12 from a transmitter, northwest of Egypt Mills, in unincorporated Cape Girardeau County. Owned by Raycom Media, the station is a sister station to the low-powered CW/MeTV affiliates WQWQ-LP/WQTV-LP. The outlets share studios, in the Hirsch Tower, on Broadway Avenue in Downtown Cape Girardeau. Syndicated programming on KFVS includes The Middle, The Dr. Oz Show, and Live! with Kelly & Michael among others. KFVS had previously served the Jonesboro media market as the default CBS station on satellite providers. It is not known how much longer that arrangement will continue, after the sign-on of the Jonesboro area's first locally based CBS affiliate August 1, 2015 on a second digital subchannel of Fox affiliate KJNB-LD. (NHTSA/Gray News) - More than 114,000 Britax car seats are under recall after complaints were filed regarding a screw that can come loose, causing the handle to become partially detached. The recall was filed after a consumer complaint was filed on Aug. 1, claiming a handle hub mount detached, which led to a minor injury, the company reported. Following a retrospective review, the company found 217 reports of the handle detaching, and another 312 about the handle being loose or wobbling.

Walmart to pay $50 million to settle claims that it filled illegal opioid prescriptions
(Gray News) - Walmart is paying $50 million to settle claims that its pharmacies played a role in the country’s opioid epidemic. In 2020, government attorneys alleged that since June 2013, Walmart had filled illegal prescriptions for opioids and other controlled substances. They also claimed Walmart didn’t detect suspicious orders and contact the Drug Enforcement Administration.

(AP) - British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported back to the United Kingdom after his arrest by American immigration authorities, U.S. officials said Saturday. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said Yiannopoulos was returned to his home country on Friday after being accused of overstaying after entering the U.S. legally in May 2019.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WWSB/Gray News) - Florida officials say a statewide operation has helped find dozens of missing children. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said 163 children were recovered during a five-day statewide operation that included the Sarasota and Manatee County sheriff’s offices. The children ranged in age from 2 months to 17 years old.
