WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (News 12) - A New York mother is in custody after her newborn baby was found abandoned inside an employee bathroom at a grocery store, authorities say. White Plains police say a newborn baby was found early Sunday morning in an employee bathroom at a ShopRite grocery store. The employees who found the baby called 911 and cared for him until emergency responders arrived.

LAKE ORION, Mich. (WXYZ) – A 4-year-old Michigan girl is facing a long recovery after she lost part of her leg in a lawnmower accident. Brielle Thompson’s aunt and uncle, Abigail and Jonathan Thompson, said she was visiting Minnesota with her family when the accident happened. “Right now, it’s just a waiting game of how well she’s able to heal,” Abigail Thompson said. Brielle and her family are from Lake Orion, but were vacationing in Minnesota when it happened.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - UT Tyler is starting this semester with a couple of empty offices. In late May, the University announced its “Voluntary Separation Incentive Program (VSIP)”. In a statement to KLTV, the University said the program was launched with long-term financial planning in mind while managing budget reductions. “I wish the university wasn’t having to put themselves in this position,” said former employee and alumnus Bryan Knous.
Former police officer used Flock cameras to track victim 76 times, department says
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA/Gray News) - A former Texas officer is accused of using the Flock camera system to track a victim 76 times. The Amarillo Police Department fired Christian Eder on July 17, citing inappropriate conduct. Police say they received a citizen complaint about Eder’s conduct and launched an internal investigation. They determined Eder used department resources inappropriately.
Child loses part of leg in lawnmower accident
An 80-acre fire is burning near FM 778 and U.S. Highway 80 in Wood County, and dozens of residents have been notified that flames are nearing structures, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office. Wood County Deputy Kale Holland said said around 20 to 30 people have been notified of possible evacuation on CR 2680 and CR 2686. “They are just notifying people in the area,” Holland said.
Officers free fox tangled in soccer net
WESTLAKE, Ohio (CNN) - Police officers freed a red fox that had become tangled in a soccer net. Officers with the Westlake Police Department in Ohio were called out to the field on Saturday. Video the department shared to social media shows the fox’s leg was caught in the net’s rope. Officers used scissors to cut the rope and free the animal. Thankfully, the fox kept patient during the rescue and only became antsy near the end. It could be seen running quickly away once it was freed from the net.
Smith County firefighters responding to home on fire in Winona
WINONA, Texas (KLTV) - A mobile home went up in flames in Smith County Monday night. The fire was called in around 8:30 p.m. and was located in the 200 block of Lado de Loma Drive in Winona. Red Springs Engine 122 and several other engines responded. According to Nikki Simmons with Smith County Emergency Services District 2, the residents of the mobile home were evacuated. The home was 60% involved by the time firefighters arrived. No injuries have been reported at this time.

MIAMI (AP) — The National Hurricane Center issued a tropical storm warning on Monday for the Gulf of Mexico coast from the Galveston and Houston, Texas, area to the western parishes of Louisiana. The storm was upgraded Monday night from a tropical depression to Tropical Storm Edouard. Forecasters expect it will continue to strengthen before it makes landfall in Texas on Tuesday.
