East Texas marks America’s 250th birthday with celebrations in Longview, Marshall

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - East Texans in Longview and Marshall gathered Saturday to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary, with events drawing crowds from across the region and beyond. The Fireworks and Freedom Celebration at the Longview Convention Complex featured live music, a hot dog eating contest, and vendor booths. Classic and patriotic-themed cars were also on display outside the venue. Event organizers said they expected well over 10,000 people at the Convention Complex.

Kerrville garden unveils flood memorial wall nearly one year after Hill Country disaster Original

KERRVILLE, Texas (KLTV) - A nonprofit in Kerrville added a new flood memorial wall to its prayer garden to honor the 139 people killed in last year’s Hill Country flooding and to remember more than 800 people rescued on the river. The Coming King Foundation, which maintains the Coming King Sculpture Prayer Garden, shaped the memorial wall like a river. The garden spans nearly 25 acres and has been open to the public since 2010, with each section depicting a biblical concept or event.

Guadalupe Keys RV Resort still recovering one year after Hill Country flooding Original

CENTER POINT, Texas (KLTV) - A year after floodwaters devastated the Guadalupe River region, the owners of Guadalupe Keys RV Resort are still working to restore its property. Co-owner Drew Yancey says the RV park, located along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, lost all but two of its trailer homes in the July 2025 flooding. The floods also destroyed most of the resort’s trees, some estimated to be about 500 years old. The park remains closed.
