Isabella Sousa and Natalie Gazzard have won gold medals for Bermuda at the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association under-20 Championships. Gazzard and Sousa beat local favourites Azaria Amritt and Arjenel Browne, from St Kitts & Nevis, 2-1 in a see-saw final. The Bermuda pair took the first set 21-16 but were forced into a third set after the St Kitts duo won the second set 21-11. In a close final set, Sousa and Gazzard held their nerve to win 15-12 and secure the gold medal.
An Opposition MP paid tribute to a constituent who was killed in a powerboat crash last month. Dwayne Robinson, the Shadow Minister of Home and Community Affairs, told MPs that Rickai "Pugi" Raynor helped spark his son's interest in bikes and said it was "jarring" for residents of Riviera Road to no longer see his water truck in the area.
A section of Harrington Sound Road will be reduced to one lane tomorrow and on Tuesday to repair pipes, the Ministry of Public Works and Environment said. Work will be done from 10am to 5pm both days and motorists should use caution or detour via Knapton Hill, North Shore Road, Middle Road and South Road. Representatives from island Construction will manage traffic in the area and the ministry apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Bermudian lawyer Elizabeth Watson has returned home to join Marshall Diel & Myers Ltd's family team. For the past decade, Ms Watson has been practising matrimonial law in London, the firm said in a hiring announcement. Since her return to Bermuda this year, Ms Watson has been called to the Bermuda bar, appointed as a Commissioner for Oaths and a Notary Public, and joined the newly established Supreme Court Family Division Users Committee.

Derrick Brangman picked up five wickets for 28 runs as Southampton Rangers defeated Warwick Workmen's Club by 72 runs in the second round of the Western Counties at White Hill Field on Saturday. Seniors can expect a 1.74 per cent increase in their pensions starting in September after MPs voted to align benefits with Bermuda's rate of inflation. The Contributory Pensions (Amendment of Contributions and Benefits) Order 2026 was discussed and approved in the House of Assembly yesterday. David Burt said the increase in benefits was based on how much Bermuda's cost of living has risen from September 2024 to August 2025, and would have a "small negative impact" on the Contributory Pension Fund.
Old criminal convictions can haunt residents later in life when the need arises to travel overseas for "urgent or life-saving medical care", MPs heard. Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, told the House of Assembly: "While Bermuda provides high-quality healthcare locally, certain specialised treatments, including advanced cancer care, cardiac interventions, organ transplantation and complex surgeries often require referral to specialist institutions overseas.
