WTMJ is an AM radio station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin broadcasting at 620 kHz and at 94.5 FM HD-2. The station was the flagship radio station of the Journal Broadcast Group until April 2015, when it came under its current ownership of the E.W. Scripps Company. JBG also owned the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, WTMJ-TV and sister radio station WKTI, along with other media assets across the U.S. (WTMJ remains owned with WTMJ-TV and WKTI, with The Journal Sentinel now owned by the spin-off company Journal Media Group). WTMJ maintains studio facilities located on Capitol Drive in Milwaukee (this Art Deco facility is known as "Radio City" in tribute to the New York complex of the same name), and its transmitter is located in Union Grove. UPDATE at 4:45p.m. on 9/5/2025: Madison Police report that Cherish Golden-Smith was found safe in Sun Prairie. MADISON, Wis. — Madison Police need help finding a missing teenager. 13-year-old Cherish Golden-Smith was last seen by her mother on August 25 on the city’s west side. She was supposed to return to her mother on Morraine View Drive near Elver Park on September 2. It’s unclear what she was wearing when she went missing.
Milwaukee leaders address recent street takeovers
MILWAUKEE— Over Labor Day weekend, Milwaukee experienced a significant uptick in street takeovers, with police responding to nearly 20 incidents across the city. These unauthorized gatherings involved vehicles performing dangerous stunts such as burnouts and donuts, often accompanied by fireworks and large crowds. MILWAUKEE — After months of lead mitigation work, all 50 Milwaukee Public Schools‘ buildings built before 1950 that serve elementary students are cleared of lead risks. At the start of the school year on September 1, 43 of the 50 elementary-age buildings built before 1950 were fully cleared. The remaining schools had lead paint stabilization work already completed or had limited spaces, such as an individual classroom or bathroom, in the final cleaning and testing process.

Three people hurt, including a child, in a shooting in Sheboygan
UPDATE at Noon on 9/5/2025: Three people are injured, including a child, after a shooting in Sheboygan. Police responded around 10am on September 5 to S. Business Drive and Wilson Avenue to a “disturbance involving a gun” at a local business. Police scanner audio indicated that a 2-year-old girl was shot in the arm near the upper armpit area, and was taken by Flight for Life for treatment of her injuries. Two other individuals were injured, and taken to the hospital for treatment.

City of La Crosse sues fire truck manufacturers over alleged market conspiracy
LA CROSSE, Wis. – Three fire truck manufacturers, including two based in Wisconsin, are accused by the City of La Crosse of conspiring to limit supply and drive up prices. A lawsuit filed August 20 alleges Oshkosh Corporation, Rev Group based in Brookfield, and Rosenbauer America, LLC worked together to buy out several smaller manufacturers during the 2008 Great Recession. The suit claims the companies now control between 70% and 80% of the fire truck market in the US.
