How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

I prefer a focused emailed pitch with a story about the "why" behind the person or company and not how much revenue is it bringing in.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

computer and phone

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Find a beat you absolutely live and breathe and "own it" as your own through your social media and blog. Then, take it further.

When's the best time to pitch you?

12 noon-3pm EST

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

The New York Times- daily

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That I review products and wine. I don't. Another is that I cover parenting issues. I don't.
