A Lee's Summit man was arrested after police say he drove off from a traffic stop and got into a fight with an officer. An officer was conducting traffic enforcement near 150 Highway and SW Evergreen Lane around 10:50 a.m. Friday. The driver didn't stop and drove to his home in the 4400 block of SW Raintree Shore Drive.The officer tried to detain him, then the police say "a physical altercation" ensued. The driver then ran into his home, and officers set up a perimeter around the home.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and child endangerment charges after the Johnson County Sheriff's Office says he left two children in a car on a hot day.On Sept. 3, 2025, sheriff's deputies responded to a medical call near K-10 and Kill Creek Road near De Soto. They found the suspect, Tyler Pence, and two children, ages 1 and 3.Deputies performed lifesaving measures on both children. The 3-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
