The methodology utilized in this systematic review follows the prescribed criteria outlined in the 2015 Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) checklist [33]. Moreover, the review protocol strictly adheres to the guidelines established by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses for Protocols 2015 (PRISMA-P 2015) (Supplementary Table 1) [18], and the PROSPERO registration number is CRD42024571362.

The selection process for the included studies is illustrated in Fig. 1. Our database search identified a total of 9,855 studies, distributed as follows: PubMed (n = 1043), ISI Web of Science (n = 2946), Scopus (n = 2279), Embase (n = 2949), and Cochrane Library (n = 638). After removing 1425 duplicate studies, we screened 192 studies based on their titles and abstracts. Subsequently, we excluded 55 studies for being irrelevant. The full text of 80 studies was then assessed for eligibility.
