Saban recruited Atlanta: Locals who played for him shocked by retirement
“I was like ‘It’s got to be fake,’” Lee said. “People have been asking me for the last couple of months if (Saban was going to retire), and I figured it was going to be just like the last couple of years – that there’s no way he’s going to be done coaching. I went to the SEC Championship game, and they won. I was like ‘there’s no way he’s going to leave after being this close to the top again.’ “I still can’t believe it’s real. It’s just crazy.” Why did Saban retire?
Former UGA QB David Greene on Mike Bobo, ‘Night to Shine’
David Greene, who gathered with some of his former UGA football teammates for last week’s ‘Night to Shine’ event, was not surprised that the Bulldogs moved so quickly to hire Mike Bobo as the replacement for Todd Monken as the team’s offensive coordinator. When Greene starred as Georgia’s quarterback in the early 2000s, Bobo was kicking off his coaching career as quarterbacks coach for the Bulldogs. “I certainly knew that Coach Bobo was qualified,” Greene told DawgNation on Tuesday.
Former top UGA target at edge rusher ... enters transfer portal
There’s no indication yet whether or not Burcher has interest in UGA or vice versa, but there’s plenty of connections already in place and the Bulldogs appear to have a need for a transfer at edge rusher. Muschamp, who is now UGA’s co-defensive coordinator, personally recruited Burch out of Hammond Academy high school for South Carolina, rather than having an assistant in charge.
New Georgia Tech coach wants to ‘dominate’ UGA
New Georgia Tech coach Brent Key put archrival UGA on notice during his introductory press conference on Monday. “We have an opponent in this state that we will work 365 days to defeat… to dominate,” Key told reporters. Dominate? Key’s words are not really a surprise, considering that most new coaches often make audacious comments upon taking the job to fire up the fan base. The team’s projected starter at tight end, Spencer Webb, died in a freak cliff-diving accident at a lake near Oregon’s campus. You want Clemson or Florida State in the SEC? It’s not going to happen anytime soon, according to multiple reports on Monday. Green Bay Packers love Georgia Bulldogs
The Green Bay Packers share something more with the Georgia Bulldogs than the world-famous “G” logo on the side of their football helmets. The NFL team also has a love affair with defenders from the SEC powerhouse. Green Bay has spent its last three first-round picks on UGA players, including two more in Thursday’s opening round on the 2022 NFL Draft. The Packers picked up inside linebacker Quay Walker at No. 22 and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt at No. 28.

Kirby Smart (UGA Sports Communications) March 03, 2022 at 5:20 am EST By Michael Carvell, DawgNation.com Some Alabama folks still can’t accept the fact that the Crimson Tide was beat by UGA in the national championship game. Nick Saban blames his players for UGA loss
This week, it’s Nick Saban pointing the fingers. Unsurprisingly, none of the fingers are pointed at himself. Saban appeared as a guest speaker at the Alabama Football Coaches Association on Thursday, and in the process of trying to say something inspirational, he squarely laid the blame on a trio of youthful defenders, via SDS: “We lost the national championship game, basically because we had 3 corners out, both starters and the best backup.
