SGLT2 Inhibitors and Asthma Exacerbation Risk Among Patients With Type 2 Diabetes and Asthma: A Target Trial Emulation
WHAT IS THE CURRENT KNOWLEDGE ON THE TOPIC? Emerging evidence on sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors suggests respiratory benefits beyond the established cardiorenal effects. However, prior studies have compared SGLT2 inhibitors with agents that may themselves affect asthma exacerbation, leaving the actual role of SGLT2 inhibitors in the observed associations unclear. WHAT QUESTION DID THIS STUDY ADDRESS?
Fewer Cheap Flights, More International Suitcases – South Florida’s Tourism Outlook For 2027
By Michael Cheng, Florida International University FloridaPolicy Updates What happens after a city hosts the world? Miami is about to find out. In 2026 the city hosted seven FIFA World Cup matches, including a quarterfinal and the bronze final. The city’s broader calendar also featured the College Football Playoff national championship game, the World Baseball Classic and the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.
Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors and risk of post-stroke epilepsy
Abstract Stroke survivors may develop epilepsy, which can worsen recovery and quality of life. People with type 2 diabetes are at increased risk of both stroke and epilepsy, but whether different glucose-lowering medications influence the risk of post-stroke epilepsy (PSE) is unclear. We aimed to compare the risk of PSE between sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors in people with type 2 diabetes after stroke.

Comparison of adverse renal events between ranibizumab and aflibercept in patients with diabetic macular oedema: A global network study
Abstract Patients with diabetic macular oedema (DMO) are susceptible to renal injury, raising the risks of acute kidney injury (AKI) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) associated with anti-VEGF therapies. We aimed to compare the risks of AKI and ESRD between aflibercept and ranibizumab in DMO patients, focusing on AKI and ESRD in conjunction with all-cause mortality.

Trimethylamine-N-oxide affects cell type-specific pathways and networks in mouse aorta to promote atherosclerotic plaque vulnerability
Abstract Background Trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) has been significantly linked to atherosclerosis via several mechanisms, but its direct effect on the atherosclerosis-prone vasculature remains unclear. The objective of this study was to characterize the cell type-dependent and independent effects of TMAO on key vascular cell types involved in atherosclerosis progression in vivo.

Is Microsoft Excel-based Scheduling Holding Back Your Construction Operations? Try This Instead
IRONPROS: Why is the construction industry having a difficult time letting go of Microsoft Excel for project scheduling? Nitin: Excel's popularity stems from its familiarity and availability, which creates a certain inertia against adopting new tools. Many construction professionals have spent years developing custom Excel workflows, making it challenging to switch to something new.
A Closer Look at How Artec 3D and Engineers Use 3D Scanning for Construction Maintenance
IRONPROS: What is 3D scanning technology? Artec 3D: 3D scanning is a technology that brings physical objects or the information about the shape and oftentimes color of an object into the digital world, in three-dimensional form. Far more than a 2D photograph, for example, a highly accurate and precise 3D replica of an object can be inspected, measured, modified, reverse engineered, put through simulations or stress tests, shared, collaborated on, imported in AR/VR environments and far more.

How Are Drones Replacing Traditional Construction Site Analysis and Surveying?
IRONPROS: Why should construction businesses use drones for site analysis and inspections? Burns:Using drones, construction businesses can obtain precise, up-to-date topographical data for accurate planning and progress tracking. Drones can quickly capture a construction site's current state, allowing project teams to identify issues, measure volumes and optimize workflows, which can significantly reduce costs and delays.
How Lighthouse Electric Used Technology to Make Training Workers Better
IRONPROS: What business problems were you trying to address with technology and what technology did you decide to adopt? Matt: Essentially, we were looking for a way to eliminate unforeseen challenges as early as possible by generating standardized, scalable, and flexible processes, deliverables and digital outputs that would fit at least 80% of our industry’s needs. We were looking to be proactive in our approach as opposed to reactive to the common problems that arise in electrical construction.
How to Protect Project Profitability Using Construction Accounting Software
IRONPROS:What challenges are construction businesses facing these days when it comes to keeping their projects profitable? What factors make profitability difficult in construction projects? Lee:Construction is a cash-intensive, high-risk business and factors like rising material costs, project delays and inaccurate cost estimates can quickly put a contractor out of business.

How Can Businesses Control Inflation in Construction Projects?
Management Controls: Inflation adversely affects the price of construction/building materials and equipment; inputs like fuel, equipment and technology; and an evolving yet dwindling labor market—dwindling because so much of the workforce is aging out or leaving the sector. These challenges lead to the price of bids increasing as profit margins of current projects decrease. Rising prices to offset wage hikes have also contributed to inflation. It’s a conundrum.
Can Fleet Management Tech Reduce Operating Costs?
IRONPROS: What are the most costly aspects of operating a construction fleet? Panasonic Connect: The cost associated with operating and maintaining a construction fleet is substantial. From initial acquisition to disposal, the equipment lifecycle involves several stages, each contributing to the overall expenses associated with fleet ownership and management. A big part of managing a vehicle fleet is dealing with unexpected breakdowns in the field and ensuring that workers stay productive.

Analytical propagation model for underwater free-space optical communication through realistic levels of oceanic absorption and scattering
Optical communications (OC) through water bodies is an attractive technology for a variety of applications. Thanks to current single-photon detection capabilities, OC receiver systems can reliably decode very weak transmitted signals. This is the regime where pulse position modulation is an ideal scheme. However, there has to be at least one photon that goes through the pupil of the fore optics and lands in the assigned time bin.
Pan-cancer landscape of epigenetic factor expression predicts tumor outcome - Communications Biology
Abstract Oncogenic pathways that drive cancer progression reflect both genetic changes and epigenetic regulation. Here we stratified primary tumors from each of 24 TCGA adult cancer types based on the gene expression patterns of epigenetic factors (epifactors). The tumors for five cancer types (ACC, KIRC, LGG, LIHC, and LUAD) separated into two robust clusters that were better than grade or epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition in predicting clinical outcomes.
The Upgrade to GA4 - What We’ve Learned So Far
After nearly three years, Google has mandated its upgrade from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4 on July 1, 2023. which forced many advertisers to migrate their properties before the deadline. This hard stop created a risk of missing attribution data. Meaning that we, together with other performance marketing businesses, be blind on campaign performance unless we took action on those clients affected.
Domiciliary transcutaneous electrical stimulation in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea and limited adherence to continuous positive airway pressure therapy: a single-centre, open-label, randomised, controlled phase III trial
Summary Hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HNS) for obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a novel way to manage the condition. We hypothesised that in patients with OSA and limited adherence to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, domiciliary transcutaneous electrical stimulation (TESLA) would control sleep apnoea and provide health benefits.
