Now that the biggest silly season dominoes have fallen, it’s hard to say Chris Buescher is now in full control of the silly season market. Of the remaining top teams with open seats on the market, there’s really no reason for them to make a signing until Buescher decides what he wants to do. As an example, it wouldn’t surprise me if Richard Childress Racing hasn’t inquired about the driver’s status. To be clear, this is pure speculation on my part; I have no insider information.

Winner Kimi Antonelli Only Constant in Bizarre Monaco Grand Prix

Kimi Antonelli took his first career Grand Slam in the Monaco Grand Prix, leading every lap after starting from the pole and turning the fastest lap on the day. Antonelli was cruising to the win when a late safety car came out when Lance Stroll drove his Aston Martin into the barriers at Anthony Noghes corner. When Charles Leclerc did the same as Stroll from his third place starting position on the ensuing restart, the culprit was revealed. The tarmac was beginning to come apart in that corner.

It’s fair to say that Spire Motorsports’ gamble on Daniel Suarez this past offseason has been nothing short of a success. Most NASCAR Cup Series drivers are lucky to get second chances. Suarez’s Spire ride represents his fourth chance on a major team (without counting his Gaunt Brothers Racing stint). He’s always been a serviceable driver, with one excellent win at Sonoma Raceway and one lucky win at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta, but he’s never been that impressive.
