Family Offices Are Hungry For for Direct Investments, Private Equity, per Report

Newly tracked family offices have a strong appetite for direct investments and private equity but are less interested in hedge funds and private credit, according to Fintrx’s latest Family Office Report. The report found that direct investments were targeted by 92.7% of the 96 family offices added to the firm’s database during the second quarter, while 89.6% reported seeking private equity investments.

Heinz Endowments Names John Barker CIO

The $2.2 billion Heinz Endowments named John Barker as its new CIO, following his departure from the Kresge Foundation earlier this month. He will oversee Heinz’s investment management and will lead investment adviser and investment committee relations. Barker left the $4.2 billion Kresge Foundation after 19 years, spending the last four as CIO. Prior to Kresge, Barker was an assistant investment director at the University of Notre Dame for five years.

SpaceX Fuels Ontario Teachers’ 9.5% H1 Return

The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan’s stake in SpaceX helped propel it to a 9.5% net return in the first half of 2026, raising its total assets to C$303.2 billion ($217.2 billion). However, the same investment could turn out to be a drag on its Q3 results. The OTPP held, as of June 30, approximately 50.7 million shares of SpaceX, worth roughly $8.66 billion at the time, according to the pension fund’s second quarter 13F-HR filing.
