Results A total of 803 paired environmental surface samples were collected on board the USOS of the ISS during Expedition 64 (737 surface swabs and 66 controls, Figures 1A and 1B). More samples were collected from ISS modules with higher occupancy. Each sample underwent amplicon and shotgun metagenomic sequencing, along with untargeted metabolomics (Figure 1C).
