BOSTON (AP) _ A federal grand jury has brought a 37-count racketeering indictment against the reputed leaders of the Patriarca branch of the Mafia and the brother of state Senate President William Bulger. Among those named in the indictments, released Tuesday, were Francis ``Cadillac Frank″ Salemme Sr., the reputed head of the Patriarca family, and James J. ``Whitey″ Bulger and Stephen ``The Rifleman″ Flemmi, the two men who allegedly control South Boston’s Winter Hill Gang.

The 2016 candidates for the U.S. presidency on Saturday reacted with surprise and sadness to the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz took to Twitter to call Scalia "an American hero." "We owe it to him, & the Nation, for the Senate to ensure that the next President names his replacement," Cruz said.
