Windows rattled as tremor hits the West Rand

Parts of the West Rand were unexpectedly awakened on Wednesday evening, at about 21:22 by rattling that was felt in various areas. According to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) by Gauteng Weather, a provisional 3.2-magnitude tremor was recorded near Krugersdorp at 21:24 on Wednesday, August 30. Numerous Facebook posts mentioned that the tremor was felt in areas such as Witpoortjie, Roodepoort, Honeydew, and even as far as Randfontein and Discovery.

What might have been a routine Monday abruptly changed as white flakes began to fall on July 10. Residents couldn’t believe their eyes or contain their excitement when they saw that it started to snow!
