The Cleveland Guardians selected Sartell's Kade Lewis in the fourth round with the 123rd overall pick of the 2026 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft that took place on Saturday, July 11, in Philadelphia. Lewis and his family watched the draft from their home in Sartell. He spent the last two seasons playing third base at Wake Forest after playing his freshman season at Butler University. As a junior, he hit .354 with 13 homers, 58 RBI, 12 doubles and 57 runs.

The clock starts for athletes in the year that they either turn 19 or graduate from high school, whichever is later.

Heather Weems gets 4-year extension as NCHC commissioner

COLORADO SPRINGS — National Collegiate Hockey Conference Commissioner Heather Weems has signed a four-year contract extension with the Conference, the NCHC Board of Directors announced on Thursday, July 9. The contract keeps Weems at the helm of the National through at least June 30, 2030. Weems recently completed her fourth season as the Commissioner of the NCHC, a position she has held since June 27, 2022.
