Metro South defeats North All-Stars for the championship Local players helped the Metro South team win the Minnesota High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series last weekend at Chaska Athletic Park. Metro South defeated the North All-Stars 6-4 in the championship game of the series June 27. Six teams played nine games over two days to decide the winner of the series that features many of the state’s top high school seniors.

Bemidji wins team championship by one point The size of a clay target – about 4.25 inches – was all that separated Lakeville South from a state championship. Forty teams sent five shooters each to the Minnesota State High School League tournament June 26 at Minneapolis Gun Club. Once every competitor had finished taking 100 shots, Lakeville South stood in second place, with its shooters breaking 486 of 500 targets (97 percent). Bemidji won the championship with 487.
