This year’s Post-Gazette All-Area high school baseball team features one of the top juniors in the country, two outstanding pitchers from one team, two Vanderbilt recruits, a player who had close to 140 career RBIs and one who won the WPIAL home run title for the second consecutive year. This is the 47-year anniversary of the All-Area team. The first in 1979 included Central Catholic’s Dan Marino, who ended up making the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
