The DC Council approved a first reading of the FY2027 budget that, among other changes from the mayor’s proposal, funds 469 housing vouchers and adds funding for upgrades to the Stadium-Armory Metro station. DC’s Chief Financial Officer warned against spending from reserves.

The DC Council confirmed two nominees from Mayor Muriel Bowser: Michelle Pourcia, a former DDOT director, and Paul Goldstein, who works for the DC Department of Buildings. Bowser can now establish a three-member quorum for the first time since March. The BZA grants exemptions to zoning rules, and the shutdown has delayed several projects.
