Prognostic nomogram predicts postoperative mortality in children with brain tumors in a multicentre study
Abstract Pediatric brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer-related death in children. Reliable tools for predicting postoperative mortality in children remain limited. The aim of the study is to develop and validate a clinically applicable prognostic nomogram. We developed and externally validated a prognostic nomogram using data from two prospective cohorts in South China. The model included 375 patients (internal cohort) and 224 patients (external validation).
Development and validation of a nomogram model for predicting cardiac autonomic neuropathy in patients with diabetes
Abstract Background: Diabetic Cardiac Autonomic Neuropathy (DCAN), a critical yet frequently underdiagnosed microvascular complication, is associated with increased mortality. Standard cardiovascular autonomic reflex tests (CARTs) are complex and time-consuming, hindering their widespread use in routine screening in clinical settings. This study aimed to develop and validate a predictive nomogram for DCAN in patients with diabetes using readily available clinical variables.
A neurotoxic cryptic peptide arising from TDP-43-dependent cryptic splicing of PKN1 - Nature Communications
Abstract Dysfunction of transactive response DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) drives neurodegeneration in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD), in part through inducing aberrant RNA splicing. However, whether such mis-splicing yields stable, pathogenic proteins remains unclear. Here, we identify a TDP-43–repressed cryptic exon in Protein kinase N1 (PKN1), designated PKN1-5a1, which is activated in ALS patient brains and introduces a premature termination codon.
The dual pathological roles and targeted therapy of PGE 2 : from receptor signaling networks to disease microenvironment modulation
Abstract Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is a pleiotropic lipid mediator that exerts context-dependent effects via four G protein-coupled receptors (EP1–EP4), playing a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of diverse disorders, including neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, neoplastic, and chronic inflammatory diseases. In this review, we systematically delineate the dualistic functions and mechanisms of PGE2 across these diseases.

Dimer‐Specific FokT‐seq Reveals DNA‐Binding Dimerization and Novel Genomic Targets of TDP‐43
1 Introduction Transactive response DNA binding protein 43 (TDP-43) is a multifunctional RNA/DNA-binding protein that plays a central role in nuclear RNA metabolism, including pre-mRNA splicing, mRNA stability regulation, and transport.[1-7] Its dysfunction—particularly cytoplasmic mislocalization and aggregation—is a defining hallmark associated with several neurodegenerative diseases, most notably amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD).[8-11] While...

Mineralocorticoid Receptor Antagonists in Patients With Heart Failure and Impaired Renal Function:
Introduction Renal impairment is common in heart failure (HF) and kidney function often declines as the severity of HF progresses over time.1-4 To complicate this picture, several treatments for HF that improve outcomes can, paradoxically, lead to a decrease in the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR).5,6 Because of this, there is a growing awareness that a modest initial decline in eGFR after starting these therapies may be acceptable.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Uveitis
Abstract : Uveitis is one of the most common ocular complications in people living with the Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and can be classified into HIV-induced uveitis, co-infection related uveitis, immune recovery uveitis, and drug-induced uveitis. The introduction of antiretroviral therapy has considerably changed the incidence, diagnosis, and treatment of different types of HIV-related uveitis.

Effects of dapagliflozin according to background angiotensin receptor–neprilysin inhibitor treatment The benefit of dapagliflozin on the primary outcome was similar in patients taking an ARNI or not taking an ARNI: the HR (95%CI) for dapagliflozin compared with placebo was 0.82 (0.73–0.92) in participants not taking an ARNI compared with 0.74 (0.45–1.22) in patients taking an ARNI (pinteraction = 0.75) (Table 3 and Graphical Abstract).
Efficient Acoustic Fan Flutter Analysis Using the Influence Coefficient Method and a Sliding Plane
Abstract In this work, the influence coefficient method together with a sliding plane method was used for an efficient analysis of fan acoustic flutter. The method requires the computational domain to be split to two zones: the rotating fan zone and the stationary intake zone. The subdomain interface is connected using the sliding plane method. The split of the domain is necessary for a stable solution.

Bioenergetic profile of human coronary artery smooth muscle cells and effect of metabolic intervention
Bioenergetics of artery smooth muscle cells is critical in cardiovascular health and disease. An acute rise in metabolic demand causes vasodilation in systemic circulation while a chronic shift in bioenergetic profile may lead to vascular diseases. A decrease in intracellular ATP level may trigger physiological responses while dedifferentiation of contractile smooth muscle cells to a proliferative and migratory phenotype is often observed during pathological processes.
