Passively Q -switched fiber laser based on WTe 2 with high energy and a low pump threshold
Using ${\rm PVA}{\text -} {{\rm WTe}_2}$ as a saturable absorber, we generate ${ Q}$-switched pulses in a 1.5 µm fiber laser cavity with a very low pump threshold of 30.15 mW, achieving a single-pulse energy of 181.65 nJ, tunable pulse widths from 9.85 to 4.99 µs, and a maximum repetition rate of 45.51 kHz. Additionally, multiple theoretically predicted Raman vibrational modes were experimentally verified.

Large moiré superstructure of stacked incommensurate charge density waves - Nature Materials
Abstract Advances in heterostructure fabrication have opened new frontiers in moiré physics. Here we extend moiré engineering from artificially assembled thin flakes with mismatched lattice parameters to materials that host incommensurate orders, presenting a long-period moiré superlattice in a layered charge-density-wave compound, EuTe4. Using high-momentum-resolution X-ray diffraction, we found two coexisting incommensurate charge density waves with slightly mismatched in-plane wavevectors.

Highly stable zinc anodes enabled by a dual-function additive of in-situ film formation and electrostatic shielding
Traditional non-renewable fossil energy is being depleted, the use of which leads to serious environmental crises [1]. Hence, it is imperative to replace traditional fossil energy with renewable clean energy [2], [3], [4]. Most sorts of renewable energy are intermittent and incapable of providing a stable supply, which can also be restricted by many factors such as day-night alternation, seasonal change, and geographical location [5], [6], [7].
Odd-even stagger in dissipative fission of excited nuclear systems
First-chance fission probabilities (Pf1) of various Am, Pu, and Np isotopes are found to display a significant neutron odd-even stagger (OES), and an obvious excitation energy dependence of the OES is presented.

2.1. The Migration Paradigm: Stages of Migration and Associated Experiences of Adversity and Trauma Professionals of any discipline that work with immigrant children should adopt a strengths-based approach to demonstrate understanding of children’s resilience and avoid characterizing them as victims. With that said, it is also important to recognize that many children fleeing to the US have been witnesses or survivors of violence and other forms of trauma.

A fast radio burst source at a complex magnetized site in a barred galaxy - Nature
Abstract Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are highly dispersed, millisecond-duration radio bursts1,2,3. Recent observations of a Galactic FRB4,5,6,7,8 suggest that at least some FRBs originate from magnetars, but the origin of cosmological FRBs is still not settled. Here we report the detection of 1,863 bursts in 82 h over 54 days from the repeating source FRB 20201124A (ref. 9).
Pressure-induced monotonic enhancement of Tc to over 30 K in superconducting Pr0.82Sr0.18NiO2 thin films - Nature Communications
Abstract The successful synthesis of superconducting infinite-layer nickelate thin films with the highest Tc ≈ 15 K has ignited great enthusiasm for this material class as potential analogs of the high-Tc cuprates. Pursuing a higher Tc is always an imperative task in studying a new superconducting material system.
A Single-pulse Study of the Subpulse Drifter PSR J1631+1252 Discovered at FAST
Radio pulsars exhibit reproducible pulse profiles when many hundreds or even thousands of pulses are coherently averaged, which reflects the long-term stability of their magnetosphere. However, intrinsic modulation effects in pulse shape and intensity with timescales ranging from nanoseconds to years are displayed in the individual pulses of a pulsar. These modulations manifest as wide-ranging phenomena. This includes giant pulses, giant micropulses, subpulse drifting, mode changing, and nulling.
Competition between charge-density-wave and superconductivity in the kagome metal $\mathrm{Rb}{\mathrm{V}}_{3}{\mathrm{Sb}}_{5}$
Abstract The interplay between charge-density-wave (CDW) order and superconductivity (SC) in the kagome metal RbV3Sb5 is studied by tracking the evolutions of their transition temperatures T* and Tc as a function of pressure (P) via measurements of resistivity and magnetic susceptibility under various hydrostatic pressures up to ∼5 GPa. It is found that the CDW order at T* experiences a subtle modification at Pc1≈1.5GPa before it is completely suppressed around Pc2≈2.4GPa. Accordingly, the...

Modeling C1-C4 alkyl nitrate photochemistry and their impacts on O3 production in urban and suburban environments of Hong Kong
As intermediate products of photochemical reactions, alkyl nitrates (RONO ) regulate ozone (O ) formation. In this study, a photochemical box model (PBM) incorporating master chemical mechanism (MCM) well reproduced the observed RONO at an urban and a mountainous site, with index of agreement (IOA) in the range of 0.66-0.73. 0.0003 was identified to be the most appropriate branching ratio for C RONO , with the error less than 50%.

Epigallocatechin gallate enhances treatment efficacy of oral nifedipine against pregnancy-induced severe pre-eclampsia: A double-blind, randomized and placebo-controlled clinical study - Shi - 2017 - Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics - Wiley O
What is known and objective Oral nifedipine is commonly used to treat pre-eclampsia, one of the most severe complications during pregnancy, but its clinical efficacy is less than ideal. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a natural compound from green tea, could benefit cardiovascular health especially hypertension. We investigated the clinical efficacy of EGCG, when complemented with oral nifedipine, in treating pre-eclampsia.
Lagrangian Coherent Structures in the thermosphere: predictive transport barriers
Lagrangian coherent structures (LCSs) in the time-varying flow of the upper atmosphere are found. The Horizontal Wind Model 2014 (HWM14) is used to simulate the neutral winds of the thermosphere at 150, 250, and 350 km altitude, for quiet and active geomagnetic conditions. Then LCS analysis of HWM14 winds at 100 km altitude is used to investigate space shuttle water vapor plume transport.
