If you’re heading east of the Cascades today or tonight, you’ll need to be prepared. Whether you’re camping at Sun Lakes State Park or going to see Brandi at the Gorge, active weather could be an issue tonight. Have a backup plan if you’re camping, or at the very least, be ready to move into your car instead of your tent. To start, we’re sunny again today with warmer weather in the 70s and 80s west of the Cascades and in the 80s and 90s east of the Cascades.

WEATHER: Here’s what to expect as we head into Memorial Day weekend

This time of year, there are so many things on people’s minds. How many more days of school are left? Why are my allergies so bad? Will I need a tarp for Memorial Day camping? The answer to that question is probably! Although if you time it right, you might be okay. Today and the next few days, a fair-weather ridge of high pressure will keep us dry, partly cloudy to mostly sunny, and warm with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s.

Cooler-than-average Memorial Day temps ahead. Here’s what to expect: Original

SEATTLE — Memorial Day is coming up on Monday, May 25. It’s the earliest day in the calendar that we observe Memorial Day. The holiday used to be observed on a fixed date: May 30th every year. That changed because of a law passed in 1968 called the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which took effect in 1971. The law moved several federal holidays to Mondays so Americans could have more consistent three-day weekends. Now, Memorial Day is the last Monday in May.
