AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Flood Watch is in effect for most of Central Texas including the Austin metro counties through Thursday evening with the potential for periods of heavy rain to cause flash flooding. A Flood Watch means there is the potential for life-threatening flash flooding. Remember, never drive through flooded streets and make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Another day with highs slightly below average in the low 90s, but the air was slightly more humid and we still had a thin layer of Saharan dust. Tonight some early evening clouds will clear out before low clouds return. It will be a slightly warmer night with lows in the mid 70s. Tomorrow, high temperatures remain hot with morning clouds leading to late morning and afternoon sunshine. Winds will be breezy at times and out of the south.

From the late spring through the early fall months, dust storms pick up various minerals and small particles from the ground in the Sahara Desert, and when they lift into the air, they form a dusty air mass.
