Port of Philadelphia marks new era as PhilaPort Cruise Terminal opens

Back in April, Philadelphia became a cruise port again after a 15-year hiatus. On Thursday, the Port of Philadelphia officially opened a cruise terminal. The ribbon cutting of the PhilaPort Cruise Terminal was four years in the making, according to officials. Leaders estimate the facility will provide $300 million annually in economic output for Pennsylvania. Construction in Tinicum Township redeveloped what was once the Hog Island Dock Terminal Facility.

Parton might not have been from Philadelphia or ever lived here, but her legacy has touched the Delaware Valley. One of the icon's lasting legacies is through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which was started more than 30 years ago. Kids in eligible zip codes receive free books every month up until the age of 5.

Camden, New Jersey, educators go door to door to connect families with resources, answer questions

The start of the school year for students in Camden, New Jersey, is about two weeks away. Ahead of the first day, a new initiative is bringing resources directly to families' doorsteps. "Own Your Zone" kicked off in the city's Parkside neighborhood Wednesday afternoon with a car parade and canvassing. Teachers, administrators and volunteers spent the afternoon going door to door to answer questions, provide information and offer resources to families.
