Interaction Between Peripheral Cytokines and Central Neuroinflammation in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy
1 Introduction Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is the most common type of focal epilepsy in adults, accounting for approximately 20%–40% of cases of drug-resistant epilepsy [1]. Existing perspectives suggest that neuroinflammation is both a cause and a consequence of epilepsy. Studies on animal models and postsurgical pathology in patients have shown that neuroinflammatory reactions play a significant role in the occurrence and progression of TLE. MRI remains the usual structural imaging modality [2].

Fructose induces PERK-dependent ER stress and mitochondrial dysfunction via nucleotide depletion in clear cell renal cell carcinoma
Abstract Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) exhibits a paradoxical fructose metabolism signature characterized by upregulation of the fructose transporter GLUT5 alongside downregulation of the catabolic enzymes (ketohexokinase, aldolase B, and triokinase), a pattern associated with poor prognosis.
Superconductivity under pressure in a van der Waals heavy-fermion metal
Abstract CeSiI is a van der Waals heavy-fermion metal featuring a long-range antiferromagnetic order and Kondo coherence. The phase diagram that details the evolutions of the transition temperatures of those two orders as a function of external tuning parameters such as pressure is crucial for understanding strong electron interactions in heavy-fermion systems. Here we experimentally demonstrate the phase diagram of CeSiI.
The digital transformation of clinical teaching: a review of AI and data-driven quality assurance systems in medical education
Abstract Background: The use of artificial intelligence (AI) and other data-driven technologies is changing how medical education and clinical teaching are conducted. Hydroxytyrosol attenuates obesity-induced myocardial fibrosis by inhibiting NLRP3/CYLD/NOX4 mediated oxidative stress
Abstract Hydroxytyrosol (HT), the most bioactive polyphenol in virgin olive oil, has been shown to have cardiometabolic benefits in obese rats, but the underlying mechanism has not been fully elucidated. The aim of this study was to explore the potential driving mechanism in the initiation node of obesity-induced myocardial fibrosis through in vivo and in vitro experiments, and the role of HT in obesity-induced myocardial fibrosis was investigated based on the above mechanisms.
Fructose 1-phosphate inhibits mannose phosphate isomerase to suppress hepatocellular carcinogenesis
|
Abstract Fructose consumption increases the risk of obesity-related metabolic diseases and some cancers, but its role in hepatocellular carcinogenesis (HCC) remains controversial. Animal studies suggest that high fructose promotes HCC, whereas human data fail to support the positive link between fructose intake and elevated risk of liver cancer.

Abstract Optical spectrometers are fundamental across numerous disciplines. However, miniaturized versions, while essential for in situ measurements, are often restricted to coarse identification of signature peaks and are inadequate for metrological purposes. Here we introduce a new class of spectrometer, which uses the convolution theorem as its unique mathematical foundation.
Mitofusin-2 suppresses tumor immune escape through EGFR/STAT3-mediated PD-L1 transcription
Abstract Immune evasion driven by aberrant PD-L1 expression poses a significant challenge to the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy. Although Mitofusin-2 (MFN2) is recognized for its role in tumor suppression, its specific contribution to the regulation of immune escape remains poorly understood. Here, we integrated analyses of public datasets, clinical specimens, and mechanistic experiments in multiple cancer cell lines, immunocompetent mouse models, and patient-derived organoids.
Design of miniprotein inhibitors targeting complement C9 to block membrane attack complex assembly
Abstract The abnormal formation of the membrane attack complex (MAC) is intrinsically linked to a range of acute and chronic immune diseases. The insertion of complement C9 into the membrane is the final step and kinetic bottleneck of MAC formation. However, research on blocking the MAC formation of C9 is currently limited. Given its broad, flat, and polar functional interface, complement C9 is a challenging target for rational design.

Abstract Utilising the CALYPSO code and DFT calculations, the systematic exploration of the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of titanium-doped magnesium clusters, Ti2Mgn (n = 1–11), was carried out. The findings show that Ti2Mgn clusters undergo a structural transformation from 2D to 3D when n equals 2. From n = 6, the octahedral geometries serve as fundamental building blocks for subsequent structures except for Ti2Mg8, giving rise to numerous derivative Ti2Mgn clusters.
Interstitial oxygen order and its competition with superconductivity in La2PrNi2O7+δ - Nature Materials
Abstract High-temperature superconductivity in pressurized La3Ni2O7 has attracted considerable interest, yet the superconducting phase is rather fragile. Although bulk superconductivity can be achieved by Pr substitution for La, the underlying mechanism is still unclear. A further puzzle is the role of oxygen content: moderate oxygenation enhances superconductivity, whereas high-pressure oxygen annealing suppresses it.

SHP-1 interacts with NFκB1 to inhibit its phosphorylation and nuclear translocation to suppress excessive bacterial inflammation
Abstract The protein tyrosine phosphatase SHP-1 is a key negative regulator in cancer by dephosphorylating multiple target molecules. Specially in the NFκB signaling, where NFκB1/Rela dimer translocate to the nucleus and activate target gene transcription, SHP-1 inhibits the phosphorylation of Rela, while its regulation on NFκB1 has been unknown, especially in pathogen-induced inflammation. Chinese tongue sole, a representative flatfish, has been widely used as a genomics and disease model.
