I report on crime and cops for the Denver Post. I learned the reporting trade at Western Kentucky University. Between WKU and Denver, I've had stops at The State newspaper in Columbia, S.C.; the Savannah Morning News in Georgia; the Messenger-Inquirer in Owensboro, Ky.; and the Daily Herald in Columbia, Tenn.
I'm a Nashville native and still consider it my hometown.

What was your first job as a journalist?

Cops reporter at the Daily Herald in Columbia, Tenn.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

A long, long time ago.

How is social media changing news?

Everything is faster. And it feels like reporters are never really off-duty.
