Highlights • Thyroid dysfunction occurs in up to half of patients on immune checkpoint inhibitors • A third of overt hypothyroidism cases occur without preceding hyperthyroidism • In melanoma, adjuvant treatment causes more frequent and aggressive dysfunction • Impaired baseline renal function is associated with increased incidence of overt hyperthyroidism • Evidence for an association of thyroid dysfunction with overall survival is unclear after considering immortal time bias.
