Ranking NHL Teams By Defensemen
The defense, and what is required from the position, changed dramatically in recent seasons. It wasn’t long ago that for a team to have a great unit, the skaters needed to defend and send the puck up the ice to the forwards who would do the scoring. Now, defensemen are essentially asked to do it all. It’s what makes ranking the defensive units a difficult task. A great unit needs to eliminate opposing offenses, that’s a given.

The Sabres can catch the NHL off-guard with a trio of new dynamic duos
The Buffalo Sabres are still a good two-and-a-half months from playing their first preseason game, but speculation about who will line up alongside who has already begun. In reality, lines, pairings, and even goaltender tandems change often during the course of an 82-game season, but some are harder to split up than others. Below, I’ve outlined three potential dynamic duos that the Sabres can catch the NHL off-guard with in 2024-25 and why that would be the case.
A way too early projection of the Sabres 2024-25 lines and pairings
The Buffalo Sabres have a bit of a new look this season, something that we can say was completed when they made a decent trade for Ryan McLeod the other day. Following the McLeod trade, it got me thinking, “What will the Sabres lineup look like this season when they ultimately take the ice?” That led me to conduct a small but fun exercise, one of a few, might I add, of predicting who will predominantly play where in 2024-25.
Sabres GM for a Day: Patrick Kane headlines series of bold offseason moves
Lance Lysowski A 13th consecutive season without playoff hockey in Buffalo caused General Manager Kevyn Adams and owner Terry Pegula to make drastic changes. In the last three years, the Panthers have won seven playoff series and the Oilers have won six. For perspective, you'd have to stretch back to 1999 to get seven postseason triumphs by the Sabres. Don Granato was fired as coach and replaced by Lindy Ruff.
Dylan Cozens' Stellar Performance Leads Team Canada to Victory at 2024 IIHF World Championships
Two years ago, Dylan Cozens impressed at the World Championships, boosting his confidence and subsequent performance with the Buffalo Sabres. Despite a slight slump this season, his outstanding performance at the 2024 IIHF World Championships signals optimism for the Sabres for the upcoming season. In a recent game against Switzerland, Cozens led Canada with 2 goals and 8 points, including the game-winning assist.
Islanders & Sabres Highlight Importance of Speed at the Blue Line
The New York Islanders matchup against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night has suddenly become pivotal in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. The Islanders with six wins in a row before their March 11 loss to the Los Angeles Kings have leaped into the final wild-card spot. The Sabres, meanwhile, have struggled throughout the season, yet with two wins in a row, and seven wins in their last 11 games, they are only five points out of a playoff berth.

Byram's Debut Goal Not Enough as Sabres Fall to Preds 4-2
Buffalo Sabres' new defenseman Bowen Byram shines with a goal in his debut, but the team still falls to the Nashville Predators, 4-2. Filip Forsberg leads the Predators with a hat trick, while Luke Evangelista also contributes to the win. The Big Picture The Sabres struggle offensively, unable to capitalize on power plays, while the Predators show dominance with effective power play strategies and strong puck control.
A d’Var Torah on Excluding Disabled People - Owen M. Power
I had the honor of doing the d’Var Torah at the start of Liberal Judaism’s Board meeting on 30th May 2023, this is what I said. Liberal Judaism’s beit midrash is an excellent resource which inspires Torah study. I particularly love the Pirkai Avot classes in the weeks following Pesach. Power on magical Worlds run, potential of going first in NHL Draft
Owen Power is confident he can make a smooth transition to the National Hockey League. "I think if I was to sign and play in the NHL, I would have a pretty good adjustment to it and make an impact right away," the Michigan Wolverines defenceman said. "But I don't know if it's necessarily the best decision." Power, who produced three goals and 16 points in 26 games as an NCAA freshman, isn't sure when he'll be turning pro.
