How Cris Roque plans to use the creative industry to support MSMEs
Barely a month ago, Cris Aldeguer Roque was appointed acting Secretary for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Prior to her DTI appointment, she was the owner of clothing retail store Kamiseta and skin clinic Kamiseta Skin. As a seasoned entrepreneur who knows the challenges that beset the trade industry, Cris is an excellent choice to head the DTI. Last Wednesday, Aug. 21, Cris once again opened the National Trade Fair at the SM Mega Trade Hall, which ran until Aug. 25.

Chinese Taipei's Pan in a happier place as he seeks strong year on PGA Tour
Missing the cut in his first tournament of 2021 wasn’t how C.T. Pan planned on starting the New Year. But despite that, the Chinese Taipei golf star is still in a far happier place now compared to some 12 months ago. If the script had played out the way he envisaged early last year, Pan would have been riding on the crest of a wave following an impressive Presidents Cup debut in December 2019, where he won two of his three matches for the International Team at Royal Melbourne Golf Club.

Perez: How picking out a pair of Jordans from the bin led to my friendship with ‘His Airness’
Editor’s note: Pat Perez, who earned the first of his three PGA TOUR titles at the 2009 American Express, details his friendship with Michael Jordan in this first-person diary. Back when I was in junior high, everyone wanted the Jumpman IV’s but there was no chance we could afford a new pair of Jordans back in the day. A guy I knew had thrown a pair of old ones out at school. I saw them in the can, grabbed them out, tried them on—perfect fit.

How picking out a pair of Jordans from the bin led my friendship with ‘His Airness’ | Malay Mail
JANUARY 19 — Back when I was in junior high, everyone wanted the Jumpman IV’s but there was no chance we could afford a new pair of Jordans back in the day. A guy I knew had thrown a pair of old ones out at school. I saw them in the can, grabbed them out, tried them on — perfect fit. I brought them home, cleaned them up and officially had my first pair of Jordans; the iconic white and cement-gray combo everyone wanted.
Try Pat Perez's simple test to see if you can spot the line of the putt
Everyone putts poorly at times, including me. Check this out: In 2016, I missed 32 of 70 attempts from four to eight feet. That got my attention. I wasn't giving any thought to how I wanted to approach my putting, and that had to change. I started by putting down chalk lines on a green, and what I found was, my eye line at address was way off. What my eyes saw as a straight line to the hole turned out to be well right of it. For a 15-foot putt, it was off by as much as a foot or more.

So Damn Lucky | By Morgan Hoffmann
In November 2016 I was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, an incurable disease. The last few months have been the most trying of my life. I have a new reality now, and a new purpose. In 2011, I started to notice that my right pec was deteriorating. I could see it in pictures and in my reflection in the mirror. So I started to seek the help of specialists all over the country, and even several in Canada. That was the beginning of a five-year period of misdiagnoses, frustration and confusion.

So You Wanna Grow Golf? | By Harold Varner III
Let’s get something out of the way: I’m black. Damn, glad I got that off my chest. I mean, you would think I didn’t know it by the amount of times I’m asked about my race. It’s actually kind of comical at this point in my career I know exactly when the questions are coming and what’ll be asked. “What’s it like being the only black guy on Tour? “Does it feel lonely as the only African-American out there?

The Kid in the Red Shirt | By Sean Foley
Twenty years ago this week, we saw something that no one in the history of golf had ever witnessed: a 21-year-old kid obliterating records that had stood for decades. This was 13 years before I started coaching him. At the time, I was just another awestruck fan. I was working in the pro shop at Gaylord Springs Golf Links in Nashville, where I was also going to college. Every time CBS cut to one of Tiger’s shots, I was absolutely glued to the little TV on the wall.
