Relative Interacting Atomic Energy Analysis of the Anomeric Effect in Cyclic and Acyclic O–C–X Systems

You are already at the latest version The conformational preferences of 2-substituted cyclic and acyclic ethers, caused by the anomeric effect, have been analyzed using the Relative Interacting Atomic Energy (RIAE) analysis within Molecular Electron Density Theory. Comparison of substituted tetrahydropyrans and cyclohexanes enables the proposal of the anomeric  index, which isolates the electronic contributions of the O–C–X motif to axial stabilization in 2-substituted tetrahydropyrans.
