As District Attorney Hillar Moore continues to fight in court for more funding for his office, all of the parish’s cities must now join the case as defendants alongside the East Baton Rouge Parish government. Baton Rouge judge Tarvald Smith ruled Wednesday that St. George, Baker, Central and Zachary must be added to the case as third parties, siding with city-parish attorneys who have argued that those cities aren’t paying their fair share. Moore opposed adding St. George and others to the suit.

The Louisiana Attorney General's office has hired a top-flight accounting firm, records show, as it continues to pursue separate investigations into alleged corruption in Baton Rouge government and malfeasance in office by former New Orleans Sheriff Susan Hutson. The $150,000 contract with London-based Ernst and Young includes few details, but sources familiar with the investigation said the firm could help prosecutors charge more officials or add more counts in the two cases.

Sprawled on the concrete floor of a jail cell in LaSalle Parish, Jaleen Anderson could do little more than wave at an overhead surveillance camera for help. Over the prior 36 hours, the 29-year-old had experienced a series of at least six seizures, at times covering his bed in urine and his cell in vomit, his family says. After Anderson’s fourth, guards found him on the floor, seemingly unable to stand, and sought permission to call an ambulance for him.
