An Association for Talent Development (ATD) TD Executive Confidence Index revealed that talent development (TD) professionals are optimistic about the health of the TD function and expect an increase in organizational support to create and maintain a strong learning culture.

Eighty-seven percent of organizations reported experiencing leadership and executive-level skills gaps but according to data in a previous ATD report, nearly a quarter of organizations did not provide any learning content for leaders or executives. The second-most-common type of skills gap was for managerial and supervisory skills. Although 86 percent of organizations reported a gap in this area, a recent ATD report on new manager development showed this type of training is also not prioritized.

Future readiness has become a major topic among executives in organizations. Amid rapid changes, talent development professionals must stay informed about business trends, employee expectations, and advancements in the TD field. Over the last few years, upskilling and reskilling strategies have become more aggressive, and employees are eager to develop new skills. New research by the Association for Talent Development (ATD) highlights the current and future skills gaps facing organizations.
