‘Drag Santos out of Congress’

It may have seemed paradoxical and ironic. Rep. George Santos (R-Nassau, Queens) is young, openly gay and has purportedly dabbled in drag. Last Saturday morning, young people and members of the LGBTQ+ community, along with a prominent drag artist, rallied against the beleaguered congressman on the sidewalk outside his district office — which was unstaffed and dark — at 242-09 Northern Blvd. in Douglaston. Their message: Santos is not one of them and shouldn’t be representing them.

Outlets and restaurants give way to three adjacent storefronts filled with paintings, photography and other art. The colorful stretch of self-expression is part of the Bayside Historical Society’s 22nd annual Winter Art Show, which runs for all of February.

How is social media changing news?

Many journalists/outlets now aim for "clicks" on social media. The result has been watered-down, sensationalist stories that lack substance. In-depth/investigative journalism is becoming harder to find.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means observing and thinking about the world and then persuading your audience to do the same. The best journalists inform, entertain, and sometimes emotionally connect with their readers/listeners/viewers.

It would be an honor to someday have Michael Kay praise my work. He is a legend, someone who has excelled at every form of sports journalism--TV, radio, print, even social media.
