Like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Democratic congressional nominee Micah Lasher isn’t ready to give up on consultant Morris Katz. At a Four Freedoms Democratic Club meeting on Thursday night, Lasher was asked whether he’ll continue to work with Katz, the 27-year-old who’s come under fire for his work with disgraced Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner. Lasher snapped that the question was “ridiculous” and said of course he would.

Siffert, Martinez win tight Assembly races after recounts

David Siffert and Patrick Martinez each declared victory Wednesday in extremely tight Democratic Assembly primaries decided after recounts. Siffert, a lawyer and progressive activist, defeated Manhattan Community Board 2 Chair Jeannine Kiely in the race to replace retiring Assembly Member Deborah Glick in lower Manhattan’s Assembly District 66, which includes Greenwich Village and Tribeca. Siffert won by just 15 votes out of more than 15,000 cast in the June 23 primary.

The PEC proposal also calls for “an all-member, non-binding poll regarding member preferences among the nominated candidates for the 2028 election.” If there are multiple candidates nominated for endorsement, then the poll would be ranked choice; if there’s only one person – perhaps a certain congressional representative from New York – being considered, it would be a straight “yes” or “no” poll.
