Chattanooga Police Department pursues $500K grant to improve victim services

The Chattanooga Police Department is pursuing a $500,000 federal grant to improve its victim services unit. Services currently provided by the civilian employees at the Police Department include crisis counseling, safety planning, court accompaniment, assistance applying for victim compensation and referrals to more specific services such as legal aid, domestic violence shelters, sexual assault counseling, obtaining protection orders and case management for child victims.
