Vermonters have an important choice to make over the next four weeks. By Aug. 11, Primary Day in Vermont, we need to choose the Democratic candidate who will run against Phil Scott in November. Scott has been in office now for 10 years. Our hospitals are on the verge of bankruptcy and farms are failing. Over 60% of young Vermonters anticipate moving out of the state. Scott’s “moderation” has begun to wear thin.
Bartlett: Private higher education
I came to Vermont to attend Marlboro College, and graduated 46 years ago. I have not seen another place I’d like to live, and so I have lived, worked, raised a child, and own a home in Brattleboro. I know many graduates of Vermont small colleges who live in this area, and I know there are more of us throughout the state. I would guess that, if we were counted, our number and contributions to the state in economic, political and cultural terms would be significant.
