Biologic therapies can improve outcomes for patients with severe asthma (SA). Based on the mechanisms of approved biologics, outcomes could vary by type of biologic (e.g., anti-IgE versus other) in patients with allergic disease. We examined exacerbation rates before and after biologic initiation among US subspecialist-treated adults with SA and diagnosed allergic rhinitis.

Biologic Switches and Stops Characteristics of patients classified as having switched, stopped, or continued use of biologics are summarized in eTable 2. Compared with patients with ongoing biologic use, patients who stopped or switched biologics were more likely to have used mSCS in the previous 12 months and tended to be of younger age at enrollment.
