Mentoring in Today’s Professional Landscape
I am a CPA, where my focus is on public accounting. I help a lot of different businesses. Many days, I wish there were more than 24 hours, as there is a lot to do, including helping my clients with accounting and taxes. I no longer wish to do bookkeeping, nor will my clients pay my fees to do these tasks. And, frankly speaking, not all my clients have the time or desire to work on their books.

Sex Lake City
It's an early Saturday evening somewhere along the Wasatch Front. On a quiet street inside an undisclosed house, a group of Mormon men are about to get naked and have sex with one another. Well, not everyone here is a church member, but it's not hard to pick them out as they remove their temple garments and make small talk about their families and goings-on in their ward. The men are all shapes, sizes, ages and ethnicities—it's probably one of the most diverse gatherings of people in Utah.
LDS Confessions
Several years ago, my bishop took my temple recommend for masturbation. My wife was devastated and I felt tremendous crushing shame. I hated myself and was convinced I had a serious addiction. Fast forward seven years: My wife and I both have left the church, I have a much healthier view of myself and my sexuality, and that bishop is now in jail for the rest of his life for child molestation." I accepted this, but she still tried to console me in her usual witty way. "I've lived a long life, Rich," she said.
Condiments with a Side of Condoms
Magna resident Braxton Dutson is planted at his kitchen table, setting the timer on his phone for 30 seconds. The ballcap on his head gets turned backwards—shit just got real. He's all pumped up and ready to ... 1, 2, 3, go. Dutson punches the phone. The clock is ticking. He grabs a 16-ounce plastic bottle of yellow WinCo mustard, throws his head back, opens his mouth wide and makes like a human shot glass, chugging the thick condiment down as fast as he can, his Adam's apple rolling with each gulp.
House Hunting
Apparently there's an unwritten law among Utah's uber-rich that if you own a house worth zillions, then you absolutely must have the head of a dead animal mounted on one of your walls. Or several dead animals on several walls. That's what we gleaned from flipping through the online photos of what are currently Utah's five most-expensive properties, according to UtahRealEstate.com. The estates range from a pair of $30-million palaces to a nearly $20-million ranch.

A gay bar has lost its owner - but this safe place for Utah’s LGBT community isn’t going anywhere
Goulding, 62, died April 9 from pancreatic cancer. Many of his friends and family turned out at the Sun Trapp, the Salt Lake City gay bar he owned, to pay tribute with stories and remembrances. “We were friends for 15 years,” said a watery-eyed Teresa Engle. “He was a big-hearted guy and super friendly. I don’t think he ever met a stranger. I’ll miss everything about him.” Engle was in Kentucky the day Goulding died, but friends made sure she would make it back to Utah for his wake.
