Frank Lloyd Wright’s Only Tennessee Home Hits the Market

In 1948, Seamour and Gerte Shavin wrote a letter to Frank Lloyd Wright asking if he could recommend an architect for their Tennessee home. They had a New York relative who lived in a house by one of Wright’s apprentices and were hoping for a similarly modernist design. Wright’s response surprised the Shavins: he offered himself. After four years, a quintessential Wright house appeared on a picturesque ridge above Chattanooga.

Prized Etruscan Frescoes, Newly Acquired by Italy, Go on View

Last month, the Italian Ministry of Culture announced it had acquired fresco panels belonging to the François Tomb, a lavishly decorated chamber from the ancient Etruscan city of Vulci. Those panels, among the most significant works of ancient Etruscan art ever discovered, have now gone on permanent display at National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome.
